Raipur, June 23, 2026/ In a significant push towards rural prosperity, livelihood security and sustainable development, a series of key decisions were approved at the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, at Mantralaya (Mahanadi Bhawan) today.
1. The Cabinet approved the draft of “Viksit Bharat - Guarantee for Rozgar & Aajeevika Mission (Gramin) : VB-G RAM G Yojana, Chhattisgarh”, aimed at promoting employment, empowerment, convergence of departmental schemes and digital governance in rural areas.
Implemented in accordance with the Government of India Act, 2025, the scheme provides a statutory guarantee of 125 days of unskilled wage employment annually to eligible adult members of rural households.
This scheme will facilitate water conservation, natural resource management, creation of rural infrastructure, development of livelihood assets and generation of sustainable employment opportunities in villages. It will also promote integrated Gram Panchayat-based development, convergence of departmental schemes and coordination with the PM Gati Shakti initiative. To ensure effective planning and monitoring of development works, modern technologies and digital systems will be employed, strengthening transparency, good governance and accountability.
The expenditure under the scheme will be shared between the Centre and the State in a 60:40 ratio, and a provision of ₹4,000 crore has been made in the State Budget for the financial year 2026-27.
2. In another important decision aimed at creating local employment opportunities and boosting the rural economy, the Cabinet approved the launch of the “Atal Aajeevika Samriddhi Haat” scheme.
Under the initiative, production centres for handloom, weaving, tailoring and handicrafts; processing units for pulses, oilseeds, rice milling and dairy activities; service centres equipped with cold storage facilities, solar dryers, agricultural equipment repair units and Atal Digital Centres; along with marketing and supply centres, will be established in rural areas.
The scheme is aimed at ensuring optimal utilisation of the existing infrastructure and machinery while promoting local production, processing, service delivery and marketing activities. It is expected to generate new avenues for employment and self-employment within villages and provide better market access for locally produced goods. Chhattisgarh State Rural Livelihood Mission has been designated as the nodal agency, while the Panchayat and Rural Development Department will serve as the nodal department for implementation.
Through Atal Aajeevika Samriddhi Haat, sectors such as agriculture, food processing, service enterprises, digital technology, green energy and rural markets are expected to receive fresh momentum, laying a stronger foundation for sustainable rural livelihoods.
3. The Cabinet also approved the draft of “Chhattisgarh Compressed Biogas Policy (CG-CBG Policy), 2026”, aimed at scientifically managing agricultural residues, municipal solid waste, livestock waste and other organic resources available in the State and converting them into clean gaseous fuel in the form of compressed biogas (CBG).
The policy is expected to promote efficient waste management, environmental conservation, reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, production of bio-fertilisers and revitalisation of the rural economy.
In line with the Chhattisgarh Anjor Vision 2047, the State has an estimated potential to produce nearly five lakh tonnes of compressed biogas annually. For implementation of the policy, the Chhattisgarh Biofuel Development Authority has been designated as the State nodal agency, while the Energy Department has been authorised to issue necessary guidelines and administrative orders.
